Abstract Animation (RESEARCH)

After going to some sessions in university i have the feeling they are looking for something abstract, not realistic. Maybe meet in the middle? I have found some really interesting animations, some movements i wouldn't even have thought of are in some of these clips.

To get a better understanding what abstract means i looked on the internet to find a definition and found this. I looked at abstract art because thats what im doing as a graphic designer, making art to show to the audience.

abstract art definition:

A trend in painting and sculpture in the twentieth century. Abstract art seeks to break away fromtraditional representation of physical objects. It explores the relationships of forms and colors, whereasmore traditional art represents the world in recognizable images.

This is the best abstarct animation for me. This would perfectly fit with my song, however its already been done... The thing that really excites me is the circle beeping and the numbers count down till the next note comes in. With my song going 1,2,3 1,2,3 1,2,3 1,2 it would have worked wonderfully. As the song progresses more shapes and movement is introduced making more of a statement.

I choose this video to show another way that shapes can interact with each other. The music are sharpe sounds so its easier to come up with when to move and what to do next. I think the colour choice in something like this is very important. They have used harmonising colours, maybe to represent that shapes are all interacting as one to make this processes flow?

This starts off small then it grows big! I love the contrasting colours taking control of one and other, it really makes a statement. The shapes and timing to the beat of this song is key, without it, it wouldn't work. Bolder sounds they use heavier shapes e.g. square/rectangles. The shapes appear out of no where but the majority of the time they come on and off page, its really effective. I could watch this all day and not get bored. I need to achieve that...

This isnt as impressive as the other videos, however i like that they have done something different by using more colours, shapes and tried to go some where else with it. I do think it goes with the music but its a video that i could forget because it hasn't made an impact as a view but as a designer i can see where they was going with geometric shapes and pastel colours.

This animation is in the middle a bit realistic, however using shapes to make it abstract. The best part of this animation is the camera angel focusing on a certain part throughout the video. Its been controlled for me, the audience to only look at what the designer wants me to look at.

Overall, i would love to incorporate something like this into my video. I dont want to do it digitally, i want to do something on the lines of stop motion animation. I think in my planning of my story boarding abstract will be a priority.
